As of 12 March 2018 you can make an Advanced Care Directive in Victoria regarding your medical treatment.
In the Advance Care Directive you can provide directives and outline your values and preferences regarding medical treatment if you lack the capacity to give your own instructions
You can make an instructional directive that applies in all or only in particular circumstances which the medical practitioner is to follow.
A Medical Attorney must follow the directives and values set out in the Advanced Care Directive in making a decision about consenting or not consenting to medical treatment on your behalf.
The Advanced Care Directive needs to be prepared in consultation with your doctor and witnesses by your treating doctor.
We can assist you to prepare a Medical Enduring Power of Attorney now known as Appointment of Medical Treatment Decision Maker.
